1969 912 Coupe 5-Speed
A decent price despite the seller's absence

The Porsche 912 was developed as a more affordable and efficient alternative to the 911, utilizing the 356SC’s 1.6-liter flat-four engine. Nearly identical in appearance to its six-cylinder sibling, the 912 was lighter and produced 90 horsepower, paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox as standard. Its lower price point made it especially popular in the United States, contributing to more than 32,000 units built during its initial production run. In 1969, the wheelbase was lengthened in line with the 911 before the model was ultimately replaced by the mid-engine 914.
This 1969 912 Coupe 5-Speed was a LWB car and came finished in Irish Green over a Black leatherette interior and showed 73,000 miles. Under current ownership, work is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors, refinishing the wheels, and replacing the tires. Also included in the sale were a pair of Weber carburetors, along with the tool kit, driver’s manual, and several workshop manuals.
Over the past twelve months, LWB 912 Coupe values have averaged $58,200, with a low of $33,333 and a high of $88,000 for a Bahama Yellow example coming out of 53 years of single-family ownership. Our Spotlight Car appeared to be in nice condition, but the seller was largely absent in the comments, leaving several questions unanswered, particularly regarding the originality of the paint. Even so, it managed a strong result, hammering at a final bid of $69,750.
