1970 914/6
Was this little sixer really as much of a deal as the comments would have you believe?

The 914-6 was the six-cylinder variant of Porsche’s mid-engined sports car, powered by the 2.0-liter flat-six from the 911T. While it was the least powerful six-cylinder in Porsche’s lineup at the time, the engine brought a notable performance boost over the standard four-cylinder 914. The 914-6 also received lower gear ratios, larger brakes, and five-lug wheels to handle the additional weight and power. Other distinguishing features included an ignition switch on the left side of the steering wheel and subtle refinements to accommodate its upgraded drivetrain, while maintaining the same nimble handling characteristics as the base model.
This 1970 914-6 is finished in Silver Metallic over black vinyl and presents as a driver-grade example with recent work and noted imperfections. The right quarter panel and door were repaired and refinished following an accident under current ownership, and the floors were replaced in 2015. While the rear main seal was addressed that same year, the seller notes ongoing oil leaks. The climate controls are inoperative, the Targa top is missing its headliner, and the doors cannot be locked from the outside using the key.
Over the past twelve months, 914-6s have averaged $72,300, with a low of $41,500 and a high of $122,000. Comps placed this one in the $50,000–$80,000 range, but with its list of current needs, expectations were toward the bottom of that spectrum. It ultimately sold just below, at a final bid of $47,000. A deal, no doubt, but not quite the fire sale some in the comments made it out to be.
