1975 911 Carrera Targa 5-Speed

The first US-market Targa we've seen in over a year

The 1974–1975 911 Carrera 2.7 occupies a special place in Porsche history as a lightweight, analog G-series Carrera that carried the spirit of the legendary 1973 Carrera RS into the impact-bumper era. European-spec cars retained the 2.7-liter Bosch mechanical fuel injection flat-six derived from the RS, producing roughly 210 horsepower and delivering brisk performance in a sub-2,500-lb package, while U.S.-market cars adopted a detuned CIS setup with ~175 horsepower to meet emissions requirements. With its flared rear arches responsive character, the Carrera 2.7 bridged the gap between the RS and later Carreras and remains one of the most sought-after mid-1970s 911s today.

This 1975 911 Carrera Targa 5-Speed was a U.S.-market car delivered new to Sierra Porsche Audi and remained with its original owner for more than 30 years before being acquired by the seller in 2017. Finished in Black with Gold Carrera script and Gold-centered Fuchs wheels over a Black leather interior, it showed 68,000 miles. The car was repainted in 2008 with additional cosmetic work in 2016 and 2020, received upgraded timing chain tensioners and a rebuilt fuel injection system in 2015, and had its transaxle rebuilt with a replacement clutch the same year. Most recent service in June 2024 included an oil change along with new spark plugs, drive belt, and filters.

While we’ve seen a number of Carrera 2.7 Coupes trade hands over the past twelve months, not a single Targa had surfaced during that period. To find a relevant reference, you have to go back to early 2025, when a Silver over Red example with 83,000 miles sold for $95,000. Our Spotlight car landed in the same place, matching that result with a final bid of $95,000.
