1976 911S Targa

Despite a recent restoration, this Targa didn't quite get the attention it deserved

1974 marked a drastic change for the 911 with the introduction of the G-series, which featured new front and rear bumpers to comply with updated U.S. regulations. Also new for the G-series were integrated headrests, a full-width taillight lens bearing the Porsche name, and the adoption of K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection in the base 911 and 911S.

This 1976 Targa is an ‘S’ variant, fitted with the 911/82 2.7-liter flat-six with Bosch fuel injection. Originally finished in Red, it was repainted in a factory shade of Magenta in 2024 and features a Black leatherette interior, with work completed on the dash pad, carpets, and door panels at the same time. Other 2024 work included an engine overhaul, along with a rebuilt warm-up regulator, fuel distributor, and pressure accumulator.

Over the past twelve months, ‘74–77 S Targas have averaged $54,000, with a low of $28,250 and a high of $89,930 for a restored example in Minerva Blue Metallic. With its recent restoration and an interesting factory shade, estimates placed this one in the $80,000–$110,000 range, but it sold at a final bid of $70,250. Definitely a deal, considering the work completed over the past two years. Well bought.
