1986 911 Carrera Coupe

An original owner car in a great spec

Introduced in 1984 as the successor to the 911 SC, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 marked the return of the “Carrera” nameplate for the first time since 1977. Powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six producing 231 bhp, it delivered improved performance while retaining the classic air-cooled character. Offered in Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet forms, the Carrera 3.2 blended the charm of early 911s with subtle modern refinements, like integrated front fog lights and upgraded comfort features. Produced through 1989 with over 70,000 units built, it remains one of the most accessible entry points into classic 911 ownership.

This 1986 911 Carrera Coupe came from its original owner and showed just 34,000 miles on the odometer. Finished in Marble Grey over a Grey Green leather interior, this example came optioned with Porsche’s Sport Suspension, Heated Sport Seats, Limited Slip Differential, 16” Fuchs wheels, and more. It’s a very good-looking car and has been slightly modified with original parts included with the sale. What wasn’t included, though, was much of a service history other than a recent receipt for about $1,200 in work.

Over the last twelve months, Carrera 3.2 Coupes have averaged just above $80,000 with a high of $235,200 for an outstanding 11,000-mile example finished in Paint-to-Sample Glacier Blue. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $107,000, which was about middle of the pack for comps with similar mileage. More info from the original owner would have helped here, but at the end of the day, it was a fair price paid for a nice example.
