1988 911 Turbo Targa
Color drives the price on this rare piece of Turbo history

The Porsche 930 Turbo Targa is a rare and intriguing variant in 911 Turbo history, notable as the only generation of 911 Turbo to be offered in the Targa body style. Available for just three model years—1987, 1988, and 1989—it combined the open-air experience of the Targa roof with the brutal performance of the 930’s turbocharged flat-six. With only ~657 units produced, it remains the rarest of the three 930 bodystyles, standing out as a collectible anomaly from the final years of first-generation Turbo production.
This 1988 911 Turbo Targa came finished in Black over a Champagne leather interior and showed 60,000 miles on a repaired odometer. The car looked to be in very nice, condition as evidenced by hundreds pictures in the gallery and included even paint meter readings along with lots of recent service work, with the turbocharger replaced as well as overhauling the fuel system with fuel injectors, pumps, and relays between 2020 and 2022. The odometer was also repaired in 2022 as the owner noticed it was not working while waiting on said parts to arrive, so I’m sure we’re pretty close on the mileage here.
Over the last twelve months, 930 Turbo Targas have averaged just over $200,000 with a high of $226,000 achieved for another 60,000-mile example finished in Venetian Blue Metallic over Blue leather earlier this month. Our Spotlight car sold at a final bid of $188,000, well short of that comp as well as another recent sale of a car with higher mileage. While color probably played a part in the bid, the winner picked up a very well-maintained and original car for a bit of a deal. Congrats.
