1988 944 Turbo S Silver Rose
Higher mileage put this 944 Turbo S in the hunt for a different kind of twelve-month record

If I were to add a 944 Turbo to The Whitlock Collection, it would be a 944 Turbo S Silver Rose. Originally, all Turbo S 944s were to be produced as special edition Silver Rose examples with Silver Rose Metallic paint over a Burgundy Studio Plaid cloth interior and limited to just 1,000 units. But Porsche ended up building around 1,600 Turbo S’ with just 720 cars ending up as Silver Rose examples.
This 1988 944 Turbo S Silver Rose came finished in, you guessed it, Silver Rose with that incredible Burgundy interior and showed 165,000 miles on the odometer. Condition looked in line with the miles with the left quarter having been refinished and some wear around the exterior. The front seats were retrimmed in 2020, and unfortunately it looks like they were unable to find the Studio Check cloth at the time as the seats are wrapped completely in leather, but there is extra cloth included in the sale. Mechanically, it was kept up with during the seller’s stewardship and comes with a pile of receipts.
This car was purchased by the seller in September of 2021 at a final bid of $20,951. 944 Turbo S prices have remained fairly steady since then with a twelve-month average of $37,000 and a low of $21,500. Given the miles, this one was in the running for a new twelve-month low, which it set at a final bid of $17,750. Fair deal, but a fun car and a bit of a project for the money.
