1989 911 Carrera 4 Coupe 5-Speed

A solid buy for a nice and early Euro 964

The 964 Carrera 4 was introduced in 1988 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as a 1989 model, marking the first major redesign of the 911 since the original G-Series bowed in 1973. It brought significant advancements over the outgoing 3.2 Carrera, most notably the introduction of an all-wheel-drive system derived from the 959. The car also featured a new 3.6-liter flat-six producing 247 horsepower, along with power steering, ABS brakes, and optional airbags, bringing the 911 into a more modern era. Revised suspension with coil springs replaced torsion bars, and improved aerodynamics, including a retractable rear spoiler, further enhanced both performance and usability.

This 1989 911 Carrera 4 Coupe 5-Speed came finished in Forest Green Metallic over Gray leather and showed 175,000 km (~109,000 miles). An Austrian-market example recently imported to the U.S., it received a round of service in preparation for the sale including new tires, CV axles, rear axle struts, hood struts, fender gaskets, a windshield washer tank, and replacement driver’s seat adjustment switches. The exterior looked to be in nice condition with paintwork noted on the roof and font valance and paint meter readings included in the gallery.

Over the past twelve months, 964 Carrera 4 Coupe values have averaged $92,000, with a low of $22,000 and a high of $127,964 for a 61,000-mile Guards Red example sold last December. Mileage comps put our Spotlight Car in the $85,000–$115,000 range, and it landed right at the low end with a final bid of $85,964. Solid buy.
