1989 911 Carrera Cabriolet 25th Anniversary Edition
Should have been a new record, so where were the bids?

To mark 25 years of 911 production, Porsche introduced the 1989 911 Carrera 25th Anniversary Edition—a fitting sendoff for the beloved Carrera 3.2 before the arrival of the 964. Limited to just 500 U.S. examples—300 Coupes and 200 Cabriolets—these special editions were finished in either Silver Metallic or Satin Black Metallic, paired with a distinctive Silk Grey leather interior accented by black piping and velour carpeting. Unique touches included body-color Fuchs wheels, a leather-wrapped center console with temperature gauge and CD holder, a short-shift gear lever, and discreet “25th Anniversary Special Edition” badging.
This 1989 911 Carrera Cabriolet 25th Anniversary Edition is one of the 160 Cabriolets finished in Silver Metallic and showed just 12,365 miles on the odometer. The car looked to be in very nice condition from the pictures and included the original window sticker along with 5 .pdf files full of service records. A very nice example of the collectible finale to the G-body era.
25th Anniversary Cabs have been few and far between with the last example I have on record being a 30,000-mile example that sold at a final bid of $130,000 back in August of 2023. With such low mileage, my estimate was somewhere in the $120-150,000 range, but it failed to sell at a final bid of $89,000. It’s currently offered in PCARMARKET’s marketplace for $145,000. About right, so where were the bids?
