1989 911 Speedster
Low miles helped this Speedster perform, despite a replaced odometer

Porsche brought the 1989 911 Speedster to life after strong reaction to the 1985 concept. Drawing directly from the 356 Speedster playbook, it featured a raked windshield, two seat layout, and a roll away roof that tucked beneath its signature double bubble rear cover. Buyers could choose either a narrow body or Turbo Look widebody, both powered by a 3.2 liter air cooled flat six paired with the G50 five speed. With roughly 150 pounds shaved off the Cabriolet thanks to its simplified roof and pared back interior, the Speedster delivered a uniquely purposeful open top experience.
This 1989 911 Speedster was one of just 823 US-market cars and came finished in Guards Red over black leather. It spent about a decade in Germany before returning to the US after the current owner acquired it in 2020, hence the 15,000 km (roughly 9k miles) on the replaced odometer. The car presented as a very clean, well-kept example with detailed gallery photos, paint meter readings, and a strong set of service records.
Over the past twelve months, 1989 Speedsters have averaged $209,300 with a low of $168,000 and a high of $285,000 for a 1,300-mile example. Comps put our Spotlight car solidly in the $200-225,000 range, and it outperformed the top end, selling at a final bid of $235,000.
