1989 911 Speedster
Not the lowest mileage, but man what a color

The 1989 911 Speedster was the final flourish of the G-Series era, produced for one year only with 2,104 units built as a tribute to the original 356 Speedster. Inspired by the 1987 concept unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the production version retained key design cues including a low, raked windshield and a distinctive double-hump fiberglass tonneau cover over a manual soft top. Powered by the 3.2-liter flat-six producing 231 horsepower, the Speedster was offered in both narrow-body and wide “Turbo-look” configurations, blending classic open-air character with late G-Series performance.
This 1989 911 Speedster was one of just 823 U.S.-market examples produced and was specified in the desirable widebody “Turbo Look” configuration. Finished in Linen Gray Metallic over a Black interior, it showed just 5,061 miles and retained its original paint. Accompanied by service records and documented history, it presented as an exceptionally preserved example of one of the final and most iconic G-Series variants.
Over the past twelve months, 1989 911 Speedster values have averaged $221,200, with a low of $187,000 and a high of $285,000 set by a 1,300-mile Guards Red example sold last March. While our Spotlight Car wasn’t the lowest-mile example we’ve seen, it was the only Linen Gray Metallic car to surface in quite some time. It went on to set a new twelve-month high, selling at a final bid of $297,000, or $311,850 including buyer’s fee.
