1989 911 Turbo Coupe

A final year 930 Coupe beat comps for a nice bump above $200k.

The 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo marked the final year of the legendary 930 generation, which first launched in 1975 as a homologation special for FIA Group 4 and 5 competition. Originally equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six, Porsche increased displacement to 3.3 liters in 1978 to improve performance and drivability. The 1989 model year stands out not just as the end of an era but for one critical upgrade: Porsche finally paired the Turbo with the G50 five-speed manual gearbox, replacing the long-running four-speed 915.

This 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe was finished in Slate Gray Metallic over Gray leather and showed 66,000 miles. An engine-out service was completed in November 2021, which included a valve adjustment and replacement of the head gaskets, head studs, and spark plugs. It was equipped with a limited-slip differential and short shifter, and was presented with a detailed photo gallery that included paint meter readings and extensive service records. A solid, well-maintained example from the final year of 930 production.

Over the past twelve months, 58 examples of the 3.3-liter 930 Turbo crossed the block with a 69% sell-through rate and an average price of $165,876. Non-G50 cars averaged $157,300, while 1989 G50-equipped examples like our Spotlight car commanded a much stronger $225,600 average. With comps pointing to a range between $175,000 and $200,000, this one did well, selling at a final bid of $216,000.
