1991 928 GT 5-Speed
A surprising result for a well-sorted GT

Porsche’s 928 GT brought the spirit of the lightweight Clubsport into a fully-equipped tourer setting itself apart from the S4 and previous iterations of the 928 with a more powerful 5.0-liter V8 pushing out ~330 horsepower. It was offered exclusively with a 5-speed transmission and featured a sportier, more aggressive suspension setup and standard ZD LSD to offer the ultimate manual-transmission 928 experience of its era.
This 1991 928 GT 5-Speed came finished in Guards Red over a Tan leather interior and showed 43,000 miles on the odometer. Roughly $34,000 in work had been completed during ownership including refinishing the front bumper cover and partially disassembling the engine last year with work including resurfacing the cylinder heads, a valve job, rebuilding the fuel injectors, refinishing the cam covers and fuel rails, re-plating assorted fasteners, and more. The gallery was full of detailed photos including service records and pictures of the engine tear-down and rebuild. A very nice example of one of the “driver’s” 928.
Over the last twelve months 928 GTs have averaged $62,300 with a low of $30,000 and a high of $10,928 for a 51,000-mile Grand Prix White example. With said high more of an outlier, I expected our Spotlight Car to land somewhere in the $45-70,000. Probably closer to the high estimate as it last sold in 2018 for $41,500 and has had extensive service completed since then. But it hammered at a final bid of $53,500. A great price for a very well sorted car.
