1992 911 Carrera RS N/GT 'Macau'
An uber-rare race car built for a series that never materialized

The 1992 911 Carrera RS N/GT was a factory-built, race-focused evolution of the 964 Carrera RS, created to meet the demands of Group N and ADAC racing. Optioned with the M003 package, the N/GT featured extensive weight reductions—including thinner glass, minimal interior trim, and aluminum bodywork—along with a welded-in Matter roll cage, Nomex bucket seats, and onboard safety gear. Power came from a 3.6-liter M64/03 flat-six paired with a single-mass flywheel and ZF limited-slip, while coil-over suspension and Brembo brakes made it track-ready. Among the rarest of these were 20 specially commissioned cars—known as the "Macau" cars—each finished in a unique color with leather-wrapped roll cages and upgraded interiors. Originally built for a one-make race series that never materialized, they were ultimately sold to private collectors in Japan.
This 1992 911 Carrera RS N/GT is one of the twenty ‘Macau’ cars and came finished in Crystal Silver over a multi-tone Blue interior. Originally delivered in Japan, the car spent time in Germany before coming to the US in 2023 and now shows 43,000 km (~27k mi) on the clock. The car looked to be in very nice condition although it lacked paint meter readings and service records in the listing other than what appeared on the CarFax.
N/GT comps are few and far between with only three examples crossing the block in the past twelve months with an average of $329,700 and a high of $432,722 for a Rubystone Red example with 15k km. None of those examples were ‘Macau’ examples, though. How much that adds, is a good question, being as only 20 were produced, there’s not much in the way of comps. Our Spotlight car failed to sell at a final bid of $395,000, which I’d have to imagine was at least $100k short of what the seller was looking for based on asking prices I’ve seen for other examples.
