1992 968 Coupe 6-Speed
It's always nice to see some love for Transaxle-era cars

Introduced in 1992 as the successor to the aging 944, the Porsche 968 was the final evolution of Porsche’s front-engine, water-cooled sports car platform that began with the 924. Built with balance in mind, it featured a rear-mounted transaxle and a front-mid engine layout, helping it achieve near 50:50 weight distribution. Its 3.0-liter inline-four was one of the largest four-cylinder engines in production at the time and featured VarioCam variable valve timing, producing smooth and responsive power. Distinctive pop-up headlights, a long sloping hood, and subtle styling cues borrowed from the 911 and 928 gave the 968 a refined GT look, while its rear seats and hatchback practicality offered added usability.
This 1992 968 Coupe 6-Speed showed approximately 63k miles and came finished in classic Guards Red over a Black leather interior. It rides on 17" Cup alloy wheels and presents well overall, with service records included in the gallery. Two accidents from 2007 and 2008 are documented on the Carfax, both related to rear bumper repairs with corresponding repair invoices provided in the gallery. A timing belt service was completed in 2016, and the alternator was replaced in 2021, rounding out a solid maintenance history for this well-kept transaxle-era Porsche.
The final sale price of $29,300 placed our Spotlight car a bit above the 968 Coupe’s twelve-month average of $25,000 and comfortably above the high end of its $15,000–$25,000 estimate range. While the car had over 63,000 miles and a couple of past accident claims, its six-speed gearbox, classic Guards Red finish, and overall clean presentation with service records likely helped push the result higher.
