1992 Porsche 911 RUF Ultimate

Unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the RUF Ultimate was Alois Ruf’s modern interpretation of the Yellowbird philosophy, distilled into a fully bespoke, ultra-lightweight machine. Built around a full carbon-fiber bodyshell with an integrated roll cage, it weighed under 2,650 pounds and was powered by a 3.6-liter air-cooled twin-turbo flat-six producing 582 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a six-speed manual and rear-wheel drive, the Ultimate delivered an uncompromising, analog driving experience. Just two examples were ultimately built, adding an extra layer of rarity to an already extreme concept.

This 1992 RUF Ultimate, nicknamed “Bluebird,” is the second of just two Ultimates built, completed in 2022. Finished in Dark Blue over Nachtblau leather with Silver Gray stitching, it features a wide-body steel conversion complemented by carbon-fiber doors, hood, and tail section. Notably, it carries a WP0 VIN rather than RUF’s typical W09 designation. An absolutely stunning example and a truly special piece of RUF lore.

With only two examples built, there are 0 comps. The closest “Comps” I can think of would be a RUF RCT Evo as it too was based on the Porsche 964. We saw a W09 RUF RCT Evo sell for $1,242,500 in January and a converted WP0 car sell for $661,500 back in March of last year. Our Spotlight Car hammered at a final bid of $1,255,000, $1,317,750 all-in. Well sold. Congrats D.R.
