1993 911 America Roadster 5-Speed

Our third America Roadster brought the bids, but were they enough?

The 964 America Roadster is a rare, wide-bodied cabriolet built exclusively for the North American market during a two-year production run to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 356 America Roadster. With just 250 examples produced, it was essentially a turbo-bodied Carrera 2, featuring the 964 Turbo’s fender flares, suspension, brakes, and 17-inch Cup wheels, but retaining the naturally aspirated 250-hp flat-six. In place of the rear seats, Porsche fitted a parcel shelf with storage compartments, further emphasizing its driver-focused nature.

This 1993 911 America Roadster 5-Speed shows just 16,000 miles and is finished in Black over a Cashmere Beige partial leather interior with Black piping. Presented in very nice condition, the car is accompanied by hundreds of detailed photos in the gallery, including paint meter readings. While the Carfax lists some service history, additional records were not included in the sale.

As I mentioned yesterday, America Roadsters have suddenly come out of the woodwork, with this being the third to sell in the past week. Over the last twelve months, they’ve averaged $136,900, with a low of $95,000 and a high of $175,000 for a 56,000-mile example sold in September. I had this one pegged in the $160-200k range, with a shot at the high thanks to its mileage, though that top-sale car also had Sport Seats and a mountain of service history. In the end, our Spotlight car fell short of both the high and our low estimate, selling for $153,000.
