1994 911 Turbo S X 83 Flachbau

A rare Japanese-market example sells for the second time

The 1994 911 Turbo S was born out of Porsche Exclusive at the very end of 964 production, when leftover Turbo 3.6 chassis were transformed into some of the wildest road cars of the era. Equipped with the X88 power kit, the 3.6-liter turbocharged flat-six produced 380 horsepower thanks to revised heads, larger K27 turbochargers, and upgraded exhaust components. Aggressive styling included lowered suspension, Speedline wheels, enlarged brake cooling ducts, and, on most examples, the iconic Flachbau slantnose front end inspired by the 935 race cars. Production was extremely limited, with just 10 built for Japan (X83), 27 for RoW markets (X84), and 39 for the U.S. (X85).

This 1994 911 Turbo S Flachbau is one of just 10 X83 Japanese-market examples produced and was finished in Silver over Black. Showing 39,367 kilometers (~24,000 miles), it came accompanied by documentation including service records, international shipping paperwork, a 2016 NHTSA letter, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

As I mentioned last week, only one other Flachbau has crossed the block in the past twelve months, an X85 with just 45 miles that failed to sell at a final bid of $1,125,000. The last example to actually trade hands was this very car, which sold for $830,000* back in March 2024. Our Spotlight Car brought $990,000* this time around.
