1998 911 Carrera Targa 6-Speed
A new twelve-month high, but nothing like peak 2024

Porsche reimagined the Targa for the 993 generation with a sliding glass roof system that replaced the earlier lift-out panel. Developed and built by Webasto, the design used two large glass sections, with the rear fixed to the body and the forward panel retracting beneath it at the press of a button. Three electric motors powered the mechanism, and an interior sunshade provided additional control over light and airflow. From the side, the 993 Targa had its own distinct roofline and quarter window treatment, visually setting it apart from the coupe.
This 1998 911 Carrera Targa 6-Speed came finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black leather and showed just 18,000 miles. It was optioned with the Motor Sound Package and supple leather, and has been well maintained with an engine-out service in 2023 that included timing chain tensioners, various seals, and valve cover gaskets. Additional recent work included a power steering hose in 2024, along with cleaning the idle control valve, replacing the battery, and renewing the sunroof shade guide rails in 2025.
Over the past twelve months, 993 Targa values have averaged $108,400, with a low of $86,961 and a high of $140,000 for a 40,000-mile Black example sold last May. Back in 2024 and early 2025, 993 Targas were hot, but we hadn’t seen one cross the block yet this year, and only one of the five offered in the back half of 2025 actually sold. Our Spotlight Car broke through that recent softness, selling at a final bid of $151,000, a new twelve-month high, though still shy of some of the stronger 2024 results.
