1998 911 Turbo
What held back this rare XLC-equipped 993 Turbo?

Porsche’s XLC option code denoted the Turbo Power Kit, also known as WLS2, offered on the 993 Turbo. The package consisted of larger K24 turbochargers paired with revised engine management, boosting output to a factory-rated 450 horsepower. While the kit could be retrofitted to standard Turbo models, roughly 276 cars were equipped with XLC from the factory, making original examples meaningfully rarer and more desirable today.
This 1998 911 Turbo was an Italian-market RoW example finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Cashmere Beige full supple leather and showed 74,000 km (~46k mi) on the odometer. Offered out of Bordeaux, France, the car was equipped with the desirable XLC Turbo Power Kit and was featured in the September 2024 issue of Speedster magazine. It presented with a handful of service records and maintenance-book stamps, with the most recent service noted in 2022, but lacked paint meter readings in the gallery.
Over the past twelve months, 993 Turbos have averaged $256,400, with a low of $151,000 and a high of $369,000. Momentum has accelerated recently, as five examples in the last two months have been bid beyond $325,000. Our Spotlight car clearly had potential, but the lack of recent service documentation, no paint meter readings, and its location in France likely capped enthusiasm, leaving it unsold at a final bid of $292,431.
