1999 911 Carrera Coupe 6-Speed

High mileage, but highly attractive. This 996 brought the money.

The 996-generation 911 marked a seismic shift in Porsche’s history. It was the first 911 to feature a water-cooled flat-six engine, a move that stirred controversy among purists but was necessary to meet modern emissions and performance targets. Introduced first as the Carrera 2 Coupe, the 996 debuted with a 3.4-liter engine producing 296 horsepower, mated to a six-speed manual. Beyond the drivetrain, the 996 also ushered in an all-new body design with sleeker proportions, a more sloped windshield, and the now-infamous “fried egg” headlights, a major departure from the classic 911 silhouette. Love it or hate it, the 996 set the stage for the modern 911.

This 1999 911 Carrera Coupe 6-Speed was finished in Dark Blue over a Savannah Beige leather interior and showed 125,600 miles on the odometer. It came with fairly standard options and a few light modifications, including 18” Turbo Look II wheels and a Pioneer head unit. The gallery was extensive, with plenty of service records included, notably showing that the IMS bearing had been replaced.

We’ve seen plenty of 996.1 Carrera Coupes cross the block over the past twelve months—98 to be exact. Those cars have averaged $29,100, with a low of $11,250 and a high of $50,000 for a 9,000-mile example. While this one didn’t have the low mileage of that record-setter, it still managed to top mileage comps, selling at a final bid of $25,750 thanks to its clean presentation and strong service history.
