2001 Boxster 5-Speed
A new twelve-month high was a given. Or was it?

The 986 Boxster marked Porsche’s bold return to the affordable sports car segment, hitting showrooms in 1996 after a well-received concept debut in Detroit three years prior. Its name cleverly combined “boxer,” for the flat-six engine, and “roadster,” for its open-top layout. Initially, power came from a mid-mounted 2.5-liter flat-six delivering 201 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, paired to either a five-speed manual or optional Tiptronic automatic. With classic proportions and true Porsche dynamics, the Boxster wasn’t just a new entry point, it was a new benchmark.
This 2001 Boxster 5-Speed came finished in the excellent combination of Meridian Metallic over Boxster Red Special leather and shows just 19,000 miles. It came equipped from the factory with 18″ Turbo-look wheels, a leather dashboard and door panels. Recent service within the last 200 miles included a Tarrett Engineering shifter with Cup-style cables, new spark plugs, fluids, battery, and front trunk struts.
We knew going into this one that the twelve-month high of $25,750 was in jeopardy, and our Spotlight car, nearly perfect and finished in a standout color combo, didn’t disappoint. It beat the previous mark, selling for $25,750. That right there is $25k well spent.
