2001 RUF RGT

A unique spec helped this one beat estimates despite the mileage

Introduced in 2000, the RUF RGT was the company’s naturally aspirated, GT3-esque performance model built on the 996 platform. Power came from a 3.6-liter Mezger-based flat-six producing roughly 385–395 horsepower, paired with RUF’s own suspension tuning, 19-inch RUF wheels, and a six-piston Brembo braking system. The cars also featured a fully integrated roll cage and other subtle chassis upgrades aimed at serious driving performance. Built in extremely limited numbers, only about 17 examples were completed at the RUF factory in Pfaffenhausen.

This 2001 RUF RGT came finished in special-order Mandarina Pelado over a Red and Tan two-tone interior and showed 32,000 miles. Interestingly, this example was equipped with all-wheel drive along with rare two-piece RUF wheels by OZ Racing. Overall a very nice example with long-term, Texas history in a special configuration.

Over the past twelve months we’ve seen three other 996-based RUF RGTs cross the block with a low of $274,400 for a 19,000-mile example that sold earlier in the week and high of $306,000 for another 19,000-mile example sold in July of last year. Our Spotlight car, with higher miles, had an auction estimate of $250-280,000, but sold for a strong $335,000 thanks to the unique spec.
