2001 RUF RGT

With no real comps to go on, what's this rare RUF worth? I guess whatever someone is willing to pay!

Introduced in 2000, the RUF RGT was the company’s first model based on the water-cooled 996 platform and aimed to deliver a naturally aspirated alternative to its turbocharged counterparts. Built around a modified version of Porsche’s GT3 engine, the RGT featured a RUF-tuned 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six with a 993-spec crankcase, revised camshafts, and custom intake and exhaust systems, producing 385 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Available in either rear- or all-wheel drive, each car received a RUF integrated roll cage and aerodynamic upgrades, including a front spoiler, side skirts, and a fixed rear wing, blending RS heritage with everyday usability.

This 2001 RUF RGT is one of a reported 17 examples built by RUF in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. Initially delivered to Japan, it was later brought to British Columbia and imported to the U.S. in 2024. Finished in Midnight Blue over gray microsuede with Recaro Clubsport seats, the car shows just 31k kilometers (~19k miles) and remains in excellent condition inside and out. Features include staggered-width 18″ RUF wheels, green-letter gauges, and a RUF three-spoke steering wheel. Recent maintenance completed in 2024 included a belt service, coolant flush, oil change, and gearbox fluid refresh.

To find another 996-generation RUF RGT to cross the block, I had to go all the way back to November of 2020, when a 25k-mile example in Mexico Blue sold for $199,100. Since then, it’s been all 997-based cars—and even the last of those was back in the summer of 2022. With RUF values rising across the board, I expected this one to eclipse even the highest 997 result and break $350,000. Instead, it hammered at $306,000. Only time will tell, but I’m leaning toward: well-bought.
