2006 RUF RT12 S
A second opportunity at a rare RUF

Unveiled at the 2004 Essen Motor Show, the RUF RT12 was the company’s first creation based on Porsche’s 997 platform, initially offering up to 552 horsepower depending on specification. The even more extreme RT12 S followed, equipped with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine producing a staggering 685 horsepower. These incredibly limited machines featured bespoke RUF-developed bodywork that not only gave them a distinctive look but also improved downforce and high-speed stability. Inside, RUF’s signature integrated roll cage added structural rigidity and safety, making the RT12 S a rare and formidable blend of performance and engineering.
This 2006 RUF RT12 S originally started life as a standard RT12, but was sent back to Pfaffenhausen in 2009 where it was upgraded to S specification along with a repaint in Matte Black. In 2018, the car underwent a major mechanical reconditioning by a RUF-trained technician, including a top-end engine rebuild, rebuilt brake calipers, and a new clutch. Now showing 31,363 miles on the odometer, this rare RUF looks to be in very nice condition from the photos in the gallery, and I can attest, after seeing it in person. She was a stunner.
With so few built, RUF RT12s don’t come around too often, excluding this month of course, where we now have three in the matter of a week. The RT12 S on offer last weekend failed to sell at a final bid of $480,000, and the last RT12 sale I have was back in August of last year when an R sold for $813,500. I had this RT12 S in the $400-500,000 range with it selling on the lower end with an offer of $420,000 in PCARMARKET’s Marketplace immediately following the end of the auction. After seeing this one in person, and once all of these RT12s are gobbled up, this is gonna look like a steal in a few years.
