2007 911 Targa 4 6-Speed

Are water-cooled greenhouse Targas the most underrated 911s?

Introduced in 2006 for the 2007 model year, the Porsche 997 Targa 4 continued the tradition of the sliding glass roof design seen on the 993 and 996 generation 911s. Offered exclusively with all-wheel drive, the 997 Targa’s suspension was tuned to accommodate the extra weight of the greenhouse roof with a specially worked suspension for better balance and handling. While slightly heavier and marginally slower than its Carrera coupe siblings, the Targa offered something special along with its year-round driving capability and distinct open-air driving experience: a glass rear hatch, something I wish every 911 came with.

This 2007 911 Targa 4 6-Speed came finished in Black over a Black leather interior and showed 40,000 miles on the odometer. It looked to be in nice condition inside and out although it did show an incident on the CarFax, with paint meter readings showing slightly higher on the driver’s rear quarter. A good-looking car, and a rare one to boot, as Porsche only brought ~800 to the US market in both 4, and 4S form for ‘07.

Over the past twelve months 997.1 Targa 4s have averaged $52,500 with a high of $89,500 for a 12,000-mile Malachite Green Metallic example back in September of last year. Based on milage comps, this one was estimated in the $60-70,000 range, but sold at a final bid of $48,500. Great deal, even with the damage listed on the CarFax.
