2007 Carrera S Coupe F77

A champion among modified 997s

I’ve always been fascinated with the Champion Porsche story. Founded in 1988 by Dave Maraj, the dealership quickly grew into the largest Porsche store in the country, not by catering to exclusivity, but by sheer volume. Maraj, originally from India and raised in Trinidad where he ran his family’s jewelry business, came to the U.S. with an entrepreneurial drive and a love for racing. He built Champion by taking every car Porsche would allocate, even those other dealers didn’t want, creating a pipeline of inventory that fed his growing customer base.

But Champion wasn’t just about sales. In 1993, Maraj entered the world of motorsports with Champion Racing, making their debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring. What followed was a dominant run: five team championships and five driver titles, cementing Champion’s place in Porsche racing lore. Tragically, Maraj passed away in a boating accident in 2018, but his legacy lives on.

This 2007 911 Carrera S Coupe was delivered new to Champion Motorsport and received a bespoke in-house build before ever leaving the dealership. Outfitted with their signature F77 Power Package, the car was upgraded with a Werks1 carbon fiber intake, GIAC software tune, Tubi exhaust, OEM Aerokit, and 19” Champion RG5 forged wheels. Finished in Arctic Silver over black leather and showing just 28,000 miles, it’s a rare example of a factory Porsche enhanced by one of the most performance-focused dealerships in the country.

I was watching this one closely to see how a Champion-built car would perform in today’s market. It last sold in 2023 for $65,000, and while the twelve-month average for 997.1 Carrera S Coupes sits at $52,700, with a low of $24,250 and a high of $73,500, this one nearly set a new high, hammering at $71,500. A strong result that shows buyers still recognize the added value of a documented Champion Motorsport build.
