2008 911 Turbo Cabriolet 6-Speed

Color and condition pushed this Turbo Cab. to new highs

Making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006 for the 2007 model year, the 997.1 Turbo has become revered by collectors as the last of the Mezger-engined Turbos. The Mezger traces its roots back to Porsche’s racing program, with architecture tied to Le Mans–winning efforts and the GT1, completely separate from the standard engines found in other 911s of the era. In the 997.1 Turbo, the 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six made 480 horsepower and delivered it with far less lag thanks to Variable Turbine Geometry. Proven, overbuilt, and deeply tied to Porsche’s racing history, it’s a big reason these cars are so sought after today.

This 2008 911 Turbo Cabriolet 6-Speed came finished in Dark Olive Metallic over Sand Beige leather and showed 18,000 miles. A nicely presented example, it was optioned with the Sport Chrono Package Turbo, aluminum-look gear lever and handbrake, and more for an original MSRP of $146,115. Modifications included a DSC Sport controller, Europipe exhaust, SmartTOP roof module, and GT2-style side skirts, with the factory wheels and exhaust included in the sale. Also included with the sale were service records, a clean CarFax, a recent DME report, and a handful of PCA awards.

Over the past twelve months, 997.1 Turbo Cabriolet values have averaged $91,300, with a low of $62,166 and a high of $143,500 for a 3,900-mile Arctic Silver example sold last August. Mileage comps put our Spotlight Car in the $99,000–$124,000 range, but the color and overall condition pushed it beyond that, selling at a final bid of $153,500 and setting a new twelve-month high online.
