2008 Cayman S Design Edition 1 6-Speed
Half the miles, but barely a new high

The 2008 Cayman S Design Edition 1 debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show commemorating the 35th anniversary of Porsche Design. Limited to 777 examples worldwide, it was created by Porsche Exclusive and was the first special edition based on the Cayman. Compared to the standard Cayman S, it came with Black-painted 19-inch SportDesign wheels, Charcoal Grey decals and exhaust tips, a numbered plaque, and a long list of standard equipment including a lowered PASM suspension and Sport Exhaust.
This 2008 Cayman S Design Edition 1 6-Speed came finished in Black with the signature Charcoal Grey livery over a Black leather and Alcantara interior and showed 34,279 miles. A two-owner car from new, it had been lightly modified with 20” OZ Racing wheels paired with 15mm spacers along with an aftermarket ECU tune. A clean, nicely presented example of one of the early Cayman special editions.
Over the past twelve months, Cayman S Design Edition 1 values have averaged $34,400, with a low of $32,000 and a high of $36,750 for a 61,000-mile example sold last July. Only four examples have crossed the block, with just two finding new homes, and only one of those was a 6-speed, which held the previous high. Given the mileage and manual transmission, a new high always felt inevitable, though I expected a bit more. Our Spotlight Car sold at a final bid of $37,000. Well bought.
