2008 Cayman S Design Edition 1 6-Speed

Four years and 10,000 miles looked good on this limited Cayman S

Introduced in mid-2008, the Cayman S Design Edition 1 (DE1) was a limited-run model built to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Porsche Design. Based on the Cayman S and offered exclusively in Black, the DE1 featured unique exterior graphics, 19-inch Turbo wheels with 5mm spacers, and a lowered PASM suspension. The interior was trimmed with Alcantara and the gauges were styled to evoke Porsche Design chronographs. Each car came with a commemorative briefcase containing matching accessories, including a watch, sunglasses, and more. Just 777 examples were produced worldwide.

This 2008 Cayman S Design Edition 1 6-Speed came finished in Black over Black, naturally, and showed 61,000 miles on the odometer. It was optioned with the Sport Chrono Package and BOSE with an original MSRP of $76,500. Condition-wise, it looked decent with typical wear for the mileage, including some chips and surface discoloration. A handful of service records were included, but unfortunately, the original Porsche Design briefcase and accessories were missing. Would’ve been a nice touch.

Over the last twelve months we’ve only seen one other Design Edition 1 cross the block, a 44,000-mile example that sold for $32,000 about a year ago. Our Spotlight car was last seen in March of 2021 when it sold for $31,500, and that was with fewer miles on the clock. This time around, with nearly 10,000 more miles and still missing the watch, it beat both numbers, hammering at $36,750. Well sold.
