2008 Cayman S Sport 6-Speed

The appetite for Sports is high, even with extensive mods and miles

The 987 Cayman S Sport was a late-2008 special edition of the first-generation Cayman S, limited to just 700 units worldwide. It featured a 3.4L flat-six producing 303 horsepower—8 more than the standard S—achieved via a factory Porsche Sport Exhaust and revised ECU tuning. Standard equipment included Sport Chrono, sport seats, and gloss black trim. A limited range of exterior colors and unique cosmetic details further distinguished it from the base model.

This 2008 Porsche Cayman S Sport 6-Speed came finished in Guards Red over a Black interior and showed 61,900 miles. It’s been extensively modified with a focus on performance and track durability. Highlights include a Porsche Motorsport AOS, center radiator retrofit, TTP dual oil scavenge pump, Sachs sport clutch components, and an Aasco lightweight flywheel. Handling and braking upgrades consist of Bilstein coilovers, GT3 control arms, adjustable sway bars, a Quaife LSD, and Girodisc brake rotors. A Numeric short shifter with upgraded cables and a power steering fluid cooler round out the setup.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Cayman S Sport, with the last one selling back in 2023 at a final bid of $35,000 with 31,000 miles on the clock. Before that, a 53,000-mile example brought $40,250, and an ultra-low-mile 11,000-mile car hit $45,500. That context makes this latest result at $42,069 all the more impressive, especially given its higher mileage and extensive modifications. It definitely raises the question of what those earlier cars might bring if they crossed the block today.
