2012 911 Carrera Coupe Black Edition 6-Speed

Big money for a limited edition end to the 997

The 997.2 Black Edition was introduced in 2011 as a limited run of 1,911 cars to mark the end of the 997 generation. Based on the standard Carrera, it retained the 345-horsepower 3.6-liter flat-six but added a number of unique styling touches including 19-inch Turbo II wheels with a special two-tone finish, black brake calipers, and exclusive badging. Available only in Black or Basalt Black Metallic, the theme continued inside with a black leather interior, illuminated “Black Edition” door sills, and a numbered plaque on the glovebox. A subtle but well-executed sendoff for the 997 era.

This 2012 911 Carrera Coupe Black Edition 6-Speed, number 1611 of 1911 produced, was finished in Black and showed 41,000 miles. Nicely optioned and a bit more aggressive than standard, it featured the AeroKit Cup bodywork and rear wing along with a Sport Exhaust. The gallery was a little light on the pics, but included a recent DME report and service records.

We haven’t seen a 997.2 Black Edition Coupe sell in the past twelve months, so to find comps I had to go back to early 2025, when two examples with over 100,000 miles sold for $34,750 and $34,911. Given our Spotlight Car had less than half the mileage, I expected a much stronger result. And strong we got, as it sold at a final bid of $121,000. That’s also well beyond the current twelve-month high for a standard 997.2 Carrera Coupe, held by a 55,000-mile car at $66,000.

TOGETHER WITH PORSCHE SALT LAKE CITY

There are Porsche Centers, and then there are PORSCHE CENTERS. The newly opened Porsche Salt Lake City is firmly the latter. Established in 1958, Porsche Salt Lake City is one of the oldest Porsche centers in the United States, now paired with one of the most advanced facilities in the network.

The new space spans over 100,000 square feet, with every detail considered. A 30-bay service center anchors the facility, featuring extra-wide bays, in-ground lifts, and custom Italian DEA toolboxes, a first for a Porsche Center. Throughout the building, Apple-powered workstations with dual Mac Studio monitors allow seamless plug-and-play capability for Brand Ambassadors. Below, a massive parking structure houses up to 100 vehicles and features a custom, non-traditional photo booth that reflects the scale and intent behind the entire operation.

A huge congratulations to Gavin and his team on what is quickly becoming a true destination for those passionate about the brand. If you find yourself near Salt Lake City, it’s well worth the visit.
