2012 911 Turbo S Cabriolet Edition 918 Spyder

Not all 918 owners took Porsche up on their Turbo S offering making this a rare one

In order to appease depositors of Porsche’s 918 Spyder, Porsche offered a special edition 997 Turbo dubbed the Edition 918 Spyder to those eagerly awaiting the delivery of their new hypercar. Mechanically identical to the 911 Turbo S, the Edition 918 Spyder sported bright green trim, decals, and brake calipers to match the trim on the 918 Spyder on the outside, and green stitching and piping on the inside along with a plaque displaying the Spyder owner’s unique serial number. While 918 918 Spyders were produced, only 146 owners took Porsche up on this Turbo making it a rare one indeed.

This 2012 911 Turbo S Cabriolet Edition 918 Spyder is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over Black leather and is one of just 43 Cabriolets produced (the rest were coupes). In addition to the standard Turbo S fare and Acid Green accents, this example is optioned with Porsche’s Painted Exterior Package, ParkAssist, and Clear Taillights and currently shows just under 5,000 miles on the odometer.

As you would expect for such a rare and collectible car, this Edition 918 Spyder has been kept in immaculate condition inside and out confirmed by plenty of close-up photos of the interior and exterior as well as plenty of pics of the undercarriage in the photo gallery. It has been fully serviced and comes complete with all keys, books, a window sticker, and accessories making this an excellent example to add to a collection.

Over the last five years, only seven Edition 918 Spyder’s have come to market with four of them selling for an average price of $142,000. Interestingly, all of them were Black. The most recent US sale was a 24,000-mile Cabriolet that hammered for $130,000 in April of last year. With almost 20k-less miles on the odometer and a hammer price of $140,000 for our Spotlight car, I’d say it was well bought, especially considering the color combination.

TOGETHER WITH PORSCHE SALT LAKE CITY

There are many Porsche Centers here in the US, and then there are PORSCHE Centers. Those who have a deep-rooted passion for the history of the marque that shows through everything they do, especially their choice of inventory. And Porsche Salt Lake City is one such PORSCHE Center. Serving the Salt Lake Valley since 1958 as one of the first Porsche dealers in the United States, a quick browse of their inventory lets one know just how dedicated to the brand this group of Porsche enthusiasts is.

Take for example this 1993 964 Carrera RS 3.8. Produced as the base to homologate Porsche’s legendary 3.8 RSR race car, the Carrera RS 3.8 was the ultimate evolution of the standard RS as it shed around 600 lbs of weight while increasing horsepower to 300 for a most visceral driving experience. And with only 55 units produced, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another for sale on the showroom floor of another Porsche Center.
