2017 718 Boxster S

After eight model years, early 718s look like quite the value play

Nine years! That’s how long it has been since the 982-generation Boxster made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Marking a major shift in philosophy, Porsche rebranded the model line as the 718 Boxster, a nod to the lightweight, race-winning 718s of the late 1950s and early ’60s. The most controversial change, though, was under the hood: gone was the beloved flat-six, replaced by a new generation of turbocharged flat-fours—2.0 liters in the base model and 2.5 liters with VTG turbocharging in the Boxster S. Despite purist objections, the 718 brought more torque, improved fuel efficiency, and a sharper edge to Porsche’s mid-engine roadster, carving out a new identity grounded in both performance and heritage.

This 2017 718 Boxster S came finished in Lava Orange over a Black leather interior and showed 19,500 miles on the odometer. It was optioned with Porsche’s Premium Package, Sport Chrono Package, Sport Exhaust, PASM, and more for an original MSRP of $115,700. Overall, the car looked to be in excellent condition and well maintained with plenty of service invoices in the gallery.

For a model so long in the tooth, prices have remained fairly steady with average prices hovering around $60,000 for the last twelve months plus. But with such the distance between the first cars from 2017 and the latest, averages are split well, with 2017 examples sitting closer to the $55,000 mark. Our Spotlight car bested those 2017 averages, and came close to the overall average, selling at a final bid of $59,218 thanks to a decent spec and solid service history. Almost half price to drive a Boxster that looks like the current model year car. Amazing.
